The "Connection Security" option of "TLS" (sometimes called SSL or STARTTLS) will encrypt the entire email conversation, including the username and password, the email message and any attachments.
This is the level of security that people should want and expect when enabling a secure Authentication Method. TLS uses an SSL certificate to provide additional important assurances of data integrity. When you connect to check your mail using TLS, your email client will retrieve a certificate from the server and compare the name on file with that certificate against where you told your email client to connect.
If these are not the same name, your email client will present a warning message to you. By default, we place a generic SSL certificate on file which will cause your email client to warn you. You can either elect to accept this mismatched certificate and continue (your communication will still be secured) or you can upload an SSL certificate that matches your server hostname and the warning message will never pop up. Should I select the option to use "SSL" in my email client settings?
