You're sending emails out from your Apple Mail via your TierraNet hosted mailbox, however, the recipients are not receiving your emails. First, double check that your domain name is pointing to TierraNet mail exchange (MX) records. You can check this by running an MX look up on websites like whatsmydns.net or Google DNS toolbox. Your domain should be pointing to mx1/2.daemonmail.net if using our email hosting services.
If your domain is pointing to our MX records, double check that your Apple Mail account has the "SMTP authentication" option enabled. You can verify that the setting is enabled by doing the following:
- Open Apple Mail and go to Mail --> Preferences
- Select the "Accounts" tab and select the Account you wish to configure.
- Make sure the "Server Settings" tab is selected. At the bottom of this screen there is a drop-down list for Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Uncheck the "Automatically manage connection settings" option to expand your advance settings.
- Select the "Authentication" option and select "Password"
- Click "Save" at the bottom right.
If you're having this issue on your iPhone please follow the steps below: (If this doesn't apply to you feel free to skip this step)
- Open the Settings App
- Scroll down and locate and tap the 'Mail' app
- Tap on 'Accounts'
- Tap the email account you are having issues with.
- Tap Account
- Scroll down to 'Outgoing Mail Server' and tap 'SMTP'
- Tap on Primary Server
- Set 'Authentication' to 'Password' and click 'Done' in the top right-hand corner
- You will now see that your SMTP server has been updated.
- Click '< Account' to go back to account settings
- Tap Done.
Once you've enabled the SMTP requires authentication option, send out a few test emails to ensure that it is working correctly.
