Connecting your domain with an IP address requires the use of a DNS record called an "A" record. To add an A record to your domain, once logged into your account:
-
Log into your account and click on DNS.
-
Using the drop down menu under Select domain to manage, select the domain name you're looking to update and click the Go button.
-
Making sure the A (previously known as web alias) is selected in the drop down menu under Add records for: in the lower left, click the Add button.
-
Unless instructed otherwise by your host provider, leave the Host section blank, enter your IP address in the IP Address section, select the box under Auto and click the Add button in the lower right.
-
This configuration will automatically create several records for you that are commonly required. To view all of the DNS records that were automatically added, click on the + to expand the details.
-
If your host provider also gave you MX records, which are used for email, you can add these separately and they will override the MX records our system has automatically added in for you.
-
If you have MX records to add, select the MX (Mail Exchange) option from the drop down menu under Add records for: and click Add.
-
In most cases, for MX records, you will want to leave the Host section blank.
-
Please note that, in some cases, it may take up to 30 minutes for changes to your DNS to fully propagate.
